Observation details
Lifer! Continuing bird found by Brian Smith. Working the shallow water on the East end of this pond during my viewing. Closest I was able to get for photos was behind the Menards and down a bit in the brush which I am thankful I had pants on. The bill appeared relatively thick and stout with a bit of yellow at the base possibly visible in a few of my photos. Back was a light gray and plain reminiscent of that of a Gull and eyeline was short and thick too. A small bit of black on the bottom edge of the wings but very clean on the upper mantle. I studied the characteristics of immature/nonbreeding Red and Red-necked and although they are similar I am in agreement with Red.
