NOTES: Beh. context: UNKNOWN; Weather: WIND; SEVERAL EGGS WHICH HAD CHIPPING HOLES STARTED IN THEM, CONTAINED CHICKS WHICH COULD BE HEARD CHEEPING. HARSH CONTINOUS 'CHEEP'. WE CAME TO NO CONCLUSION REGARDING THE PURPOSE OF THE CHICKS CHEEPING WHILE IN SHELL. THE PARENT PROBABLY HEARD IT, PRENATAL BUT THE THERE WAS NO REPLY. WE DID NOTICE THAT NESTING BIRDS WERE MUCH MORE AGGRESSIVE TOWARD APPROACHING HUMANS WHEN THEY HAD A HATCHING EGG OR FRESHLY-HATCHED CHICK. AT SUCH TIMES THEY WERE QUITE LIKELY TO FLY AT A PERSONS FACE OR POWERDIVE AT THE BAC. Other Behaviors: Establish Flock Contact. Habitat: Bay/Harbor.
