Media notes
vocalisations from two males foraging together on the ground at a burnt-out site; the bird closest to observer, about 15 m distance, makes "harsh call" (HANZAB vol.4 pg 798) while foraging (first at 0:03) but second bird, about 20 m distance, is silent; then both go silent, presumably content that observer posed no danger; at 2:14 observer approaches some ten steps, about 5 m closer, and both birds vocalise to signal threat; the closest bird remained on ground but moved directly away from observer making "harsh call", further bird flew into tree, taking up a position about 5 m high and made "percussive calls" (HANZAB vol.4 pg 798); clearly a response to threat posed; as observer stopped birds became silent (after 2:35) and continued foraging
