Adult. Remarks: Perhaps one of the best place to see this species in India is the region between Choglamsar and Thiksey Monastery in Leh. We have consistently seen this species around this area in Leh (and nowhere else in Ladakh), mostly scavenging on garbage. They are usually found in pairs or small family parties (of 3 to 4), but nowhere in flocks, looks clumsy on the ground and often seen hopping, although their flight is strong owing to its very long feathers. This particular pair was feeding on garbage on the ground that had witnessed a just concluded Buddhist conference. A very cautious pair, they were seen mingling with Black-billed Magpies Pica pica. The bird in this image had some infection (mites?) near the throat. - AS. Date added to OBI: November 17, 2019.
