Observation details
The 8th day! First saw it at 210 pm as it flew across the main drip pond into trees immediately to the north of the drip. Then it flew across the open space to the north of the drip to a large oak in the field. It was quite active there. Somehow I expected it to be a slow moving bird but it was not. Finally around 224 pm it appeared right over our heads, so we ( 2 other observers and I) got good views of its streaked throat and breast with a yellow wash. The frayed rufous tail really stood out, as did the large wide bill rather pink at the base. It vocalized the squeaky toy call once after it had taken a plunge dive into the pond. Photos.
