Observation details
Originally called Clay-colored as it has been annual at Waite the last 2 years in Oct. but after talking it over and looking at photos we now believe it to be a Brewer’s probably the latest Western Oregon record and the latest Coastal record for the state by about 4 days, and only 2nd for Lane coast, making it rarer then Clay-colored. Seen with other sparrows at end of Dike where large trees are, at rock pile and blackberry mount. Small spizella, that was bright and pale, with some face patterning and rather pale cap face, head, and back were overall much paler then that of Clay-colored, with an obvious eye ring. Was out in black berries and came closer into small bush by rock pile eventually flew back into black berries and disappeared.
