Media notes
Adult. Remarks: Habitat: Large stream cutting through hills and agricultural community land with secondary growth and scrub/tall grass. A wonderful little forktail that inhabits the mountain streams of Taiwan island at an altitude of 600 to 2,400m (Avifauna of Taiwan, 2nd edition). We met one fairly low down in the foothills, sharing the stream with Brown Dippers (Cinclus pallasii) and Plumbeous Redstarts (Phoenicurus fuliginosus affinis). Handbook of the Birds of the World Alive states "Isolated population in Taiwan named as fortis, on average very slightly larger and with more white on forecrown, but overlap in these characters with birds from elsewhere in range considered too great to warrant recognition." - Amar.
