Observation details

Accurate estimate. Witnessed a spectacular gathering of Alpine Swifts, a flock size which I am encountering for the first time. They were calling loudly and took turns to come down to the water surface to drink/hunt insects. This entire event lasted for almost 25 minutes. The number of birds was closely estimated from the dslr images and high-res phone videos taken at the spot. As with any count of this type, I have erred on the side of a conservative estimate. I believe actual numbers may be closer to 150.
