Observation details
Erect posture with long black legs, buff throat and top of breast and brown and grey back with largely black primaries and white rump. Black eyeline extending from black beak to eye with a white supercilium. Bird was located on the research centre's fenced meteorological site which is comprised of many perches and low native vegetation and occasional rock patches. Bird observed alternating between perches and feeding on ground. Although I found the bird, Aaron Rusak positively identified it initially from somewhat poor quality smartphone through binocular photos. Observed for one additional day before it departed.
