Observation details
1707h: 2 adults with 2 juveniles. Adults are assumed to be parents to both juveniles (black chicks). Chicks seem to be of same age due to similar size and plumage colour. Parents were foraging in undergrowth of cycad and palms, then darted across the pavement to the bush across and continued foraging. Chicks followed closely to parents. [Location: 1°18'58.1"N 103°48'58.4"E] Audio: Both parent were calling while foraging. Call sounded like consistent, repeated shrieks of "re-ak, re-ak". 1751h: 1 adult with 2 juveniles. Adult is assumed to be parent to both juveniles (black chicks). Chicks seem to be of same age due to similar size and plumage colour. Parent foraging in undergrowth, both chicks followed closely. [Location: 1°19'00.1"N 103°48'59.4"E] (Note: As both observations were relatively close to one another, this second family of crakes may be the same as the first family observed. However, the difference is only one adult was seen here.) Audio: Chicks consistently chirping softly in background, parent's call sounded like consistent, repeated shrieks of "re-ak, re-ak".
