Observation details
Adult; large gull with light gray mantle and black-tipped wings; long yellow bill with red dot on lower mandible; yellow, not dark, iris which distinguished it from California Gull. Streaking on neck consistent with adults in non-breeding season and more extensive than in CAGU which typically have streaks confined to the nape. Photo attached. Flew into lake while we were there and disappeared before we left. Observation at 60x through scopes provided much better views than we could manage photographically.
