Observation details
I first observed this bird yesterday, October 10 and returned today to attempt to photograph it. It is smaller than the Black-bellied Plovers with which it associated. Compared to them, it also appears small headed. It is primarily black and white on the back with only a small amount of gold visible. It has a very strong white supercilium. Compare to Pacific Golden-Plover photo below which appears brownish-gold in comparison to the whitish-black of this bird.
