Media notes
Both birds made hissing vocalizations with their bodies flat to the ground and heads lowered, when they were cornered and about to be picked up. BNA: Only the low "hissing" was made by these birds and this is a call type not described by either BNA or Cramp et al. (1977. The birds of Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Birds of the Western Palearctic. Vol. 1. Oxford University Press, Oxford; unless similar to the low "wah-wah" of a female with young?). The loud calls in the background are the calls of Zebra Finches (Taeniopygia guttata) and possibly other parakeets/finches. (CAM - 18 March 2005).
