Observation details
First heard calling a nasal "wink" similar to Hooded Oriole. Picked up a tanager-sized passerine flying from the Knoll over to the Meadow trees calling repeatedly. It then circled back towards the Knoll, still calling and then perched at the very top of some distant eucalyptus before disappearing I thought for good. Tawny colored passerine, with prominent eyestripe and supercilium and well streaked back with mantle braces. Eventually, heard again and picked up in a small bush just inside the reservoir fence before it flew again and landed at the top of a small silk oak in the little island of trees on the west side of the Meadow by which time Naresh arrived. We enjoyed prolonged views where we could also note the pink bill, pale gray lores and long primaries. It took a couple of long flights but always returned. However, a little after 9am, it took off in a NE direction although appeared to be veering in a E/SE direction towards the river but we lost it behind some neighborhood trees.
