Willow flycatching giving "wit" call. I posted another recording from before the Blue Jay started calling but this one has some okay bits of willow as well. Call can be heard at :02, :05, :14, :20, :25 (right in the middle of the jay call). Best heard at :14 and :20
Observation details
Very excited to actually hear an Empid calling and recognize the call right away. I have seen two other Empids in the past three days, one at Tropical Park and one at Concord Park, and had to leave them both at Empidonax sp. The Tropical Park bird gave a few calls but I didn't hear it well and didn't manage good photos because it was well hidden. The Concord bird was silent and I didn't get good photos despite it being out in the open because I didn't have my camera. When I first saw this bird I figured Empid right away because it was mostly hidden in the trees. I was about to start playing Alder flycatcher to see if it would respond but it suddenly began giving some unsolicited wits and I knew it was a willow! I played the willow call just to confirm for myself that it was right call and then followed the bird and got a recording of the soft wit calls. I did get a couple poor photos that seem to show zero eyering as well but the call was identical to the willow wit from the Sibley's app and per Larry Manfredi, call sounds good for willow. Location where it was seen: https://maps.app.goo.gl/YkRJbh4hK4Uwf54V9 It was difficult to photograph because it was up in the buttonwood trees. I was on it for a maximum of 10 minutes and then was trying to confirm the ID with local birders and lost it. I tried to find it again for better photos but I left once Larry confirmed call sounded good for willow because I wanted to bird at another park on my way home. Just attached two recordings, they are from one 2:30 recording I got so I split it into two for the parts where you could hear the call most clearly
