Observation details
I observed two raptors chasing flickers, one was a Black Merlin (see below), the other an accipiter Both raptors were small, similar in size to the flickers. Because of the small size, snappy wingbeat, twisting flight, and squeaky calls, I assumed the accipiter was a Sharp-shinned Hawk. The photo posted here, taken just after I witnessed all the action, is clearly a Cooper's Hawk. I had originally labelled it wrongly as a Sharp-shinned. It may be the bird I watched chasing flickers, or a different individual. Credit to eBird coordinator Melissa for spotting my error!
