Observation details
Banked low over highway in front of us, giving clear view of distinctive long, pointed wingshape with dark trailing edge. We found a safe place to turn around and relocated the bird perched on roadside power pole, showing long wing tips (extending beyond tail tip), relatively uniform dark back color (vs more mottled RTHA), darker hood on top of chest, and pale throat below bill. Appears to be adult plumage, somewhere in between Sibley's dark and intermediate morphs.
