Media notes
Two cuts of the begging calls of a tiny juvenile Rufous-crowned Sparrow just fledged from nest, hopping on ground and being fed occasionally by a parent. During the second cut, a parent approaches and feeds the juvenile a small green caterpillar. Background of first cut includes: a Canyon Wren calling briefly and a juvenile Red-tailed Hawk giving a begging scream at 30” and 40” and then repeatedly in the 2nd cut. Recorded using a Sony PCM-M10 with a Sennheiser ME67 with a K6 power module & foam windscreen.
Observation details
A barely-fledged juvenile, giving Verdin-like begging calls, attracted our attention to it--on a tussock-grass slope above the Mirador--as it was being fed by an adult foraging on the ground.
