Observation details
A large, heavy-bodied seabird (sulid) colored in dark clove-brown (upperparts) and white (underparts) with a pale pinkish-yellow daggerlike bill. The head and neck appeared darker brown than the rest of the body. Soft parts included a steel-blue face and pale yellow feet. Found roosting on the island where it remained during the duration of the visit. The bird appeared healthy, alert, and frequently preened. I believe this to be of the Atlantic subspecies based on some of the features noted above but will happily list at the species level if requested due to evidence of an incorrect ID.
