Observation details
NOT 100% sure about ID. After looking at more images online I feel this could be either Yucatan or Yellow-Green Vireo. Obvious vireo, first noticed the very long bill and malar marks (even without binocs). Very yellowish underside. Greenish/gray upperparts. Obvious eye stripe, and grayish crown. Eye stripe was fairly bold, but didn’t seem “right” for a Red-Eyed Vireo. However than eye stripe seemed too bold for a Yellow-Green but within the range of a Black-Whiskered. This bird had obvious malar marks that were the same on both sides of the head (as seen in the photos). The malar mark was more dusky and broad than a “normal” Black-Whiskered Vireo. I searched online and could not find any BWVI, YGVI, or REVI that showed this fieldmark. One BWVI on eBird was similar, but the malar stripe was still considerably thinner than this bird. From my photos you can see that the malar marks are present in all the photos (although the head on photos they are less obvious). The bill immediately seemed too large/long for a Red-Eyed Vireo. The bill was large and long, very similar to the YGVI and BWVI that I have seen in TX. I have found numerous similar looking birds on iNaturalist that are similar to this bird (especially the malar marks, but also the yellowish undersides). See links below: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/88626611 (a paler bird but shows the faint, dusky malar marks) https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/81581649 (a bird on the nest that seems to show yellowish undersides and dusky malar marks) https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/74288470 (a very yellowish bird with very faint malar marks) https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/71493186 (a very similar bird to mine IMO) https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/67766004 (another bird with dusky malar marks and some yellowish wash on the underside) https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/66793185 (obvious malar marks) https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/66110529 (more dusky malar marks, but a pale bird) https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/62885618 (more dusky malar marks) https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/37711140 (another showing dusky malar marks) https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/19760986 (and another with dusky malar marks) https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/19003115 (another bird with fairly dusky malar marks and some yellowish wash) https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/15580729 (a very yellowish bird- but maybe due to lighting) https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/4443105 (another yellowish bird)
