Observation details
Continuing female (of uncertain age) photographed in the southernmost pond with any significant water. This bird was first reported from this location on 26 July. The bird was distant, and on the other side of a chainlink fence, so I could not get close for decent photos, or even get good studies of plumage and bare parts characters. What I could see was a characteristic thin, merganser-shaped bill with significant yellowish color at the base, and a typical (for this species) anvil-shaped profile to the head, but with only the slightest indication of a rear crest to the brown head. The tail was longish, wedge-shaped, and often held somewhat cocked above the water.
