Media notes
A female Eared Quetzal calls from several perches near her nest hole in a tall aspen along a side road below Cinco Millas in the Santuario Madera. She gives loud flight calls when moving to a different perch. The bird calling is the same individual as in my photo. Recorded using a Fostex FR-2LE with a Sennheiser ME62 & Telinga Universal 22" parabola.
Observation details
A pair had a nest--in an enlarged woodpecker (flicker?) hole well up in a large aspen. Both male and female were seen. RAR recorded calls of the female near the nest.
