Observation details

Immediately found running along the fence beside the airport road, then perched on the fence. A fairly large immature buteo with small light colored head, streaked breast and back, long wings with light edges to flight feathers; Buffy throat and around the eye area; yellow cere and legs; First reported on Sept 29 and documented by many others on September 30th, seen running along the ground and foraging in the grass catching bugs, presumably grasshoppers. We were alone when we first arrived, but we're soon joined by 6 other birders and several local curious people wondering what the scopes and cameras were all about; photos to come
