Observation details
Seen over the hill to the east. Very brown, with no real tail band, dark wing pits and large single mustache and blunt wingtips. Thought it was a pair of Kites, then Peregrines at first. but so much lighter overall and lacking dark trailing edge to wings and tail bands. These birds and dark edging at primaries only. Will post poor quality photos taken on wrong settings (sorry). One bird meandered east up hill and one dove from on high to the north of the park. Very dramatic long dive but didn't appear to be after prey. Fast! Update: Both Steph and I still find these birds way too large to be kestrels, but have been told they are Kestrels, we'll leave it at that. The dark areas are probably color/lighting artifacts.
