NOTES: (Breeding Status: Territorial; General Climate: Wet; Cover Den: Thick) This Pitta is presently known as P.megarhyncha. During every vocalization it pushes its tail up and lown, so twice in each "Pitta-call". Started to sing close to the ground; later it sang at a 4-5m high branch. (There is a note attached to this record which says: "M1985,2 36315-36339 Kuala Selangor, 19 36340-36395 Fraser's Hill, 45 checked, 5"; 28/03/01; MLM). Response to playback: Normal song. Other Behaviors: Advertise, Perform Visual Display. Habitat: Evergreen Forest, Brackish Marsh, River, Riparian, Estuary.
