Observation details
🍎*Rare. 5 mostly alternate plumage individuals. Chunky shorebirds with long bills, orangey underparts and a white stripe down their backs in flight. Birds dropped in with a small squall of rain and began calling loudly as they circled the CANG-covered spit a good 20+ times, sometimes within a few meters of me in the car. Eventually, the birds began circling higher and then flew north. Distinctive “tu-tu-tu” calls recorded. Poor digibin photos.
