Observation details
The biggest gamble of the day paid off...bailed on the Blackpoll after 45 minutes. Adult RNST continuing at the pinned location. Ryan got me on it. Left it with Lars. Good find Owen. I don't believe it flew once while I watched it even though birds in the general area moved around a bit. The superficial resemblance to LESA at a distance was a little humbling. Behavior was quite LESA-esque also with lots of gentle pecking at the sand generally well away from the shallow tide pool where most of the other shorebirds were. Parked in the forest at a pullout on Delaura Ln and walked the 1/2 mile to this location. Lars drove north to this location from Del Rey access in a small car so I didn’t have to do what I did. Ptba.
