Observation details
Several flocks of 10-20 observed flying in from various directions before sunset, then two separate large groups of about 100 each came in at sunset, from the north. There was not any evidence of synchronous flocking of the groups of martins collectively, and at least 100 settled down onto the phragmites (at least temporarily) around sunset. After sunset, a flock of at least 70 birds circled around the campground area and then flew north toward Misery Bay and the Horseshoe Pond area. Barn swallows and Purple martins were observed flying low over the water of the Confined Disposal Facility, apparently getting drinks of water.
