Observation details
Flagged as a high count. Small, pale plovers generally with broken collars and yellowish-orange legs. Short bills—orange on the adults maintaining breeding plumage and black on younger birds—distinguished them from potential WIPL and the pale color and collar style distinguished them from SEPL. This is an exact count of individuals all visible at one time. I was lying in the sand photographing and could pan the lens to see all 12 individuals across the scene. I later saw four more in a separate area, but can’t be sure they hadn’t moved there from the original group, so I’m not counting them.
