Observation details
First winter and adult with grayish wingtips. One of the first birds I observed was an immature ICGU that stood out like a sore thumb-- nearly completely white, with less gray on the back than the bird that was observed here by BQ last weekend. The bird moved around frequently, constantly relocating within the same general area, but was resighted multiple times and seen by all observers. As time passed, the gulls began filtering in to loaf on the hillside behind the landfill, right beside our car. The immature ICGU joined this group, giving good, up-close looks. Just before leaving, we found another ICGU-- an adult bird with gray wing tips that was also loafing on the hillside. This bird had a gray mantle, nearly entirely white head, noticeably rounder breast, and pink legs (pinker than HERG but lighter than would be seen in THGU).
