Observation details
This is the third night I have heard this flight call around the same time in the late evening. I could hear it from inside the house with a window open. I went outside immediately and recorded the call which I heard repeated about 7-8 times at 10-15 second interval (estimated). Most of the calls were at a distance and could not be heard on the recording, but one was close and I include it here. I have not been hearing any other owl sounds, either of the Barn Owl or Great Horned Owl that would be more typical and frequent in the area. Out of interest and comfort, I slept on the porch outside to listen for further calls because I routinely awaken to bird sounds. I did not hear this call again in the night or morning.
