Observation details
**Rare; only the second time I've ever been able to study a perched Northern Goshawk! Immature, with increasingly heavy anchors towards the belly, dark eye-line, pale covert bar, and prominent whitish supercilium. In flight, extremely heavy-bodied and long tailed. The Blue Jays and other landbirds nearby did NOT like this bird and kept harassing it, forcing it to move from tree to tree. Eventually it took off north across the road into Seneca County. Schuyler County bird #172 and Seneca County bird #269!
