Observation details
**MEGA. Burrowing Owl observed by Mike and Ken Burrell, Apr 25th 6:50pm on Centre Dyke Rd. about 400m South of Scudder on the West side of the road where an irrigation ditch is being dug. CIrcumstances: Ken and I were driving along the road, slowly. I noticed this bird but passed it off as a tuft of Phragmites. We kept driving and I kept looking back at it, convincing myself it must not be a bird "because why would a saw-whet be sitting out at this time of day". Finally, I asked Ken to stop. I put my bins up and #@($#*(&! We jumped out of the car, got some great looks and these photos. We phoned our brother, Doug who posted the message to Ontbirds for us. Then, Ken left me on the side of the road watching the bird so he could go tell the Bird Observatory staff. While he was gone, Dean Ware (who had seen us jump out of the car and get excited) walked across the field from the house he had happened to be at to see what we were looking at. Ken managed to convince the PIBO staff to come (barely!!) and they got to see it too. Several birders came the next day but it was not refound.
