Observation details
1 adult and 2 (possibly 3) first-summers; we frequently saw three at the same time. Carl Edwards discovered these birds on 25 May, and we changed our plans for the 4-day holiday to chase them. We arrived a little more than an hour before the park closed (allegedly ...) and while the sun was still shining; the light was perfect, with the sun at our backs. The terns repeatedly flew back and forth, foraging along the beach, and occasionally flew over the beach. When 2 terns were in proximity, at least one called: a raspy two- or three-noted call. Considering that we were often within 50 feet of the terns, this was an epic experience for each of us, and obviously lifers for each.
