Media notes
Call notes (alarm calls?) given from 10’ up in a tree as it approached a nest, in the 4-way fork of a short, burned oak that still had leaves on it right in front of me (the nest unseen until the bird sidled up to it and sat on it). This was in an area that had been burned all along a side road, some ashes still smoking. E of La Noria. Background includes: White-throated Thrush, White-tipped Dove, White-winged Dove. Recorded on a pleasant (70F), hazy morn (90% cloud cover), using a Fostex FR-2LE with a Sennheiser ME62 & Telinga Universal parabola.
Observation details
1300-1500m; RAR watched 2 birds go to their nest, ca. 12’ up in a short oak tree along a burned side trail
