Observation details
*rare migrant, found in the shrubby overgrown section just north of the treeline on the north end of the hayfield. Thought I heard the song from far back in the vegetation, then was able to coax it to sing more using playback. Distinctive buzzy free-beer! song as well as several whistled notes and pip calls. Eventually got some brief views, clearly a Traill’s flycatcher with moderate-length primaries, brown upperparts, whitish throat and underparts. Relocated a short time later in the trees along the river, assumed to be the same bird though silent. Photographed and recorded.
