The kingbird calls twice in this clip.
Observation details
Continuing bird, first reported in the early morning hours by Anna Mindel. It was not present, or at least not being obvious about being present around noon, when I made my first attempt at seeing it. Some rare bird texts in the evening brought me back for attempt #2. Martin Selzer and Peter Burns were on the scene when I arrived and pointed me to the kingbird - thanks! The bird was working the fenceline along the back edge of the main boardwalk area of the preserve. It successfully caught and ate several insects as we watched. Blue-gray cap and upper back with pale throat and breast, dark eyeline, dark wings, pale yellow belly and UTC. In flight, white outer tail feathers noted. Making quiet "kit" calls, a couple of which were recorded and are embedded below. Still present until at least 6:50pm. We lost track of it after that.
