Observation details
MEGAMEGAMEGA Continuing adult first found last night by Knut Hansen at: (71.275678, -156.812657). We tried immediately last night but were unsuccessful in difficult conditions. This morning we were able to find the bird three separate times (once per hour or so) in the same general area, near the the dirt hill, and also flying in and out of the adjacent gravel pit. It's a pretty flighty bird, not surprising for an Asian mega, and it's a remarkably difficult bird to follow once it flies out of view. You think you know right where it is and then it's nowhere to be found and you won't see the bird for another 45 mins. My advice would be to work the gravel pit slopes and the dirt hill near the original sighting for as long as it takes.
