Observation details
Rare but occasional here in the spring, very small plover with a pale back and single broken breast band, short orange and black tipped bill. Much like the more common Semipalmated but paler pretty much everywhere on it, foraging with Sanderling further down the point. This bird has several bands and is evidently a bird banded in Northern Michigan, meaning it’s the Great Lakes subspecies and we can cross our fingers that maybe just maybe they’ll breed at Park point again this year or a coming year.
