Observation details
8:34 PM. Well seen atop a small conifer in excellent lighting. Good-sized flycatcher with a high, black forehead wo any green or purple iridescence. I first noticed the white band across the tip of the black tail. Long, straight mandibles. White breast and chin, very black across top of the head- dark grayish-black back . Unlike swallows, the wing tips were greatly short of the tip of the tail. After 5-10 minutes, the bird flew low across the road and disappeared into the brush. I have no doubt about this observation, as I have seen many of these largish flycatchers during assignments in FLA, VA, plus a few in SEAK and WA. Poor iPhone photo.
