Observation details
Birds were counted. I located 3 (maybe 4?) nest sites in around a 1km area. The first I counted one lot of 6 and one lot of 5 in two trees about 100m apart. These young birds were either silent or squeaking every few seconds. Adult birds coming and going occasionally, a few full-bellied adult screams were heard. I later went to the a second area about 1km away and heard more young birds begging. I figured it was too far from the other nesting sites. Located at least two young birds and two adults here. One young bird atop a tree, squeaking. Another young one just peeking its head out of an upward-facing hollow, in a second tree about 200m away. Some young birds seemed to have claimed their own hollows while waiting for food at night. I will be leaving the checklist location as Dubbo in order to avoid disturbance to the breeding owls
