Observation details
Continuing bird found by Dan Belter on 9/7. Immature bird, overall grayish-brown back with gray around head and sides of breast. Forehead, throat, and center of breast was white. Had a dark bill. Tail with black band on tip, initially I saw when the Sabine's took off from the sandbar but once it got further away I was unable to see the black band on tip of the tail. The black tip didn't show up in my photos either. I think it blends in with the background. Smaller than nearby RBGUs Very distinct wing pattern, outer primaries were solid black, the inner primaries and secondaries white, and the upper secondary coverts were grayish-brown, forming a distinct white triangle.
