Photo shows Killdeer egg in nest disguised by rocks. The egg is beside the rock that is to the left of her right foot (left side of photo) and mostly visible behind the little yellowish-green plant. Look behind the plant parallel with her leg on the left side of the photo. It's larger than the rocks in the photo.
Observation details
Please watch out and do not step on the nest! It is in the middle of the gravel road after the gate but before the wooded area of the path to the river, in the stretch with marsh on both sides. It’s easy to walk through the grass to bypass the area. Parent on nest did typical broken-wing routine. Photo shows Killdeer egg in nest disguised by rocks.
