Observation details
Individual now present for four days. I arrived at roughly 08.30 in the morning and after 10 minutes the bird appeared. The mantle was uniform in colour, a warm rich brown contrasting to the buff coloured underparts, marked by the streaking along the breast. The undertail coverts of the bird were extremely striking with obviously pale tips creating a stunning pattern. The tail itself was the same shade of brown as the mantle, but was wet for much of the morning due to light rainfall, so looked quite matted. As the sun came out mid-morning the bird began to sun itself, spreading its tail completely. The face of the bird was rather uniform, with a buffish but weak supercilium. The throat was streaked as the breast. The bird would appear for 5-10 minute periods when it would perch and sing, before either flying or dropping into cover. The song was similar to other Locustella warblers but wavered more, lacking the consistency of a Grasshopper or Savis Warbler.
