Observation details
Juv. perched in the open on a birch limb near the bridge; apparently seen throughout the day earlier by several other observers, but quite the surprise to me! First alerted to its presence by a dive-bombing AMRO. Several times the owl almost blew off the branch when a gust of wind came, a couple times grabbing hold of a twig with its beak to keep from falling off. Watched us curiously, preened and stretched a bit, and shuffled around the branch a couple times. Not sure if this bird is independent or still being fed by parents?
