Observation details
At 0620 one was on nest on Eden side of the lake, 100 yds from VT 118 , right near where they nested a few years ago. Second loon was swimming nearby. At 0640, a third loon flew in and landed near the swimming loon; swimming loon only made a few cries. 5 minutes later, I could see 3 loons swimming together, and by using zoom lens, could see that the nesting loon had left the nest. The three swam together and fished; last saw them at 0700 still together. They did swim back near the nest; a kayaker taking photos was near the nest site, and the loons stayed approx. 200 feet away. That was my last sighting at that end. At 0750,at the Belvidere end, I saw a single loon. I cannot verify that this was the third loon that had flown in, since I was too far from the other end of the lake.
