Observation details
Watched for a long period as it sang vigorously on bare Salix twigs , sometimes pausing briefly, sometimes disappearing into the vegetation, but soon starting up again. Shape: upright locustella stance and shape a bit like a Savi's warbler. Singing with bill vertical and wide- open mouth; a rounded tail and broad wings, curving in on the outer edge towards the tip ( the latter more obvious when briefly perching horizontally) . Song: a trill like a fast low cicada and quite different to Grasshopper or Savi's. . Plumage: underparts creamy-white with a clear-cut gorget of pale brown streaks on the breast, throat and face, buffish flanks, alternate pale brown and cream crescents on the undertail coverts and pale brown under-tail. Upperparts uniform pale olive- brown. Thin pale eye-ring and rather indistinct and short, narrow supercilium. Bill - pink and brown. Legs and feet- pale flesh-pink.
