Media notes
No playback. A 2-transistor, grounded-emitter, battery-operated pre-amplifier was used. There is a duck pond in this small city park to which wild and semi-wild Grey Ducks come to nest and get free handouts of food from visitors to the park. The Grey Duck is the most common duck in New Zealand, and is found just about everywhere there is water. It is Mallard-like, and cross breeds with Mallards. People were throwing bread to these ducks, several of which were nesting in nearby bushes. It was no problem to record their raucous behavior. However, another tape should be made showing the different calls of male and female to better advantage. Habitat: Pond, Urban.
