Observation details
A truly incredible sighting: A single adult of the foothill taxon (undescribed species; sp. nov.) at the same locality (and interacting) with an adult of the lowland race. Both taxa were photographed and sound-recorded. Attached recording of the lowland species. For a recording made by Rudy Gelis of the foothill species click here: https://www.xeno-canto.org/649915 Photo 1 vs. 2: The bird with the crisp spotting on the chest is the rare foothill 'new species to science' woodcreeper. The plainer 'hook-billed' bird is the more widespread lowland Long-tailed Woodcreeper.
