Observation details

A truly incredible sighting: A single adult of the foothill taxon (undescribed species; sp. nov.) at the same locality (and interacting) with an adult of the lowland race. Undescribed form named "Yungas Woodcreeper" in eBird but not sure why this name has been chosen. Both taxa were photographed and sound-recorded side-by-side. Attached recording of the lowland species and a photo. For a recording made by Rudy Gelis of the foothill species click here: https://www.xeno-canto.org/649915 The bird with the crisp spotting on the chest is the rare foothill 'new species to science' 'Yungas' woodcreeper. The plainer 'hook-billed' bird is the more widespread lowland Long-tailed Woodcreeper.
